My paternal great grandmother Caroline Norton was born in Quebec City in 1878 to parents Richard Lee Norton and Hannah Pozer Jeffery . Caroline was leaves me with the feeling that she was a force to be reckoned with. Reviewing old documents indicates her faith, community spirit, independence and the love of her family.
One example of her community spirit is found on this booklet about the Oddfellows’ organization erecting a monument at Mount Hermon Cemetery in Quebec City. Caroline is listed on the back of the program as being a board member of the committee.
And of course she adored her family!
Caroline also served as President of her Chapter of the Rebekahs and in turn her daughter Beatrice became President of the International Assembly of Rebekah Assemblies.
Caroline married Peter Jordan and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary October 22, 1950.
Caroline passed away in 1958 and she is buried beside her husband in Montreal Memorial Park.
